Abstract. The possibility of determining of roadbed railway elastic parameters is shown by the seismic observations results of vibrations generated by passing train. The rationale for the monitoring method is obtained by analyzing our own experimental data and theoretical calculations with a good agreement between the theory and experiment. As the method part, we considered the requirements for seismic equipment and indicated the most suitable types of them (Trillium Compact-120s is the best) that can be located near the roadbed at a safe distance from it. Such sensor with the appropriate data logger and seismic data processing program can be included in the methods' set for state roadbed railway monitoring. These estimates of the proposed method resolution show that it is sufficiently sensitive to detect the deformation soils properties at an early degradation stage, which is especially important for permafrost soils.
