to the East of the Northern Kuril Islands

Abstract. Seismological, prognostic and seismotectonic data on a strong earthquake on March 25, 2020, in the Northern Kuriles are presented. The collected materials on an unusual deep lithospheric earthquake in the border area of the Northern Kuriles and Southern Kamchatka made it possible to understand the structure of the source of this event, as well as to determine the features of the seismic process in it. In the course of the scalar seismic moment (M₀) release, it was possible to trace the seismic history over the past 110 years in the area of the earthquake on March 25 preparation. The dynamics of the aftershock process development in terms of M₀ release was also studied.
